Speech!

Give a 7 minute speech - most people are sweating by now.

It is amazing how we are so affected by social constraints. What will people think of us? What if we screw up?

The only difference between people who are great public speakers and people who are not, is fear.

It can be our biggest motivator.

Are workaholics scared of being failures? Are bullies scared of being bullied? Speakers making a mistake?

We all start with our natural dispositions, but this can change - a little, or a lot. Depending on how much you practice. As muscles get stronger with practice, nerves can be calmed, and we can begin to speak while thinking clearly.

The irony appears as we avoid public speaking situations, the harder they become to face.

Give it a try. Is it worth being scared any longer?

Ps. See how our class does at our Independent Professional Project speeches in March.
